He has also voted in favor of a new law to lower costs of prescription drugs under Medicare and has strongly supported efforts to stop illegal immigration which included a vote for the Secure Fence Act authorizing construction of a fence on our southern border to improve security.

Believing education and safe modern schools are the key to our children's future, he orginally sponsored and secured passage in the House of a school construction bill which would bring millions of dollars into the 6th District for school improvement. The largest increase in funding for veteran's healthcare in our nation's history and enactment of a bi-partisan energy bill to help lower our dependence on foreign oil are among other recent accomplishments of Congress which Congressman Chandler supported.
